No, you only need to be insured if you are going to drive the vehicle. The only legal requirement is that you're 21 or over and have held a full UK licence for a minimum of three years. |

isitme has given the correct answer. And the supervisor is not legally responsible for the vehicle, the driver is.
However, it would seem sensible to check with your daughter's insurance company to make sure everything is in order before you set out. You can't be too careful. |

If you do not live together then you don't need to be listed as a driver on the policy. Also, if your not driving the car and only instructing, your basically just a passenger that gives advice. You wouldn't need to be listed on the insurance in that case either.
If you live with her, AND are driving the car, then you need to be listed as a driver. |

Check with you insurers, policies differ. If you have comprehensive insurance it should cover you third party to drive any other car, provided you have the owner of that car's permission.
And - You are in legal terms the driver of that car even if your unqualified daughter is 'at the wheel' |

you have to be insured to drive that car, If you had your own insurance for your car, your insurance may cover u to drive that car, but with only 3rd party cover, regardless of what you have on yours. you have to be a named driver |
