I'm about to be put through my stage 1 HGV licence for rigid vehicles by the comapny I work for and I have been asked to find this out.

No - you have to apply for the entitlement which also requires you to have and pass a medical examination which you have to pay for yourself (doctors do this privately and there is no national health service payment for this) |

You must need additional groups added to your licence because to drive an HGV even as a learner you need to take a medical examination, which is not necessary for a car licence. Also you need to be 21 |

Yes it dose,but it's not complete until you obtain a medical from a doctor, you then need to send it to DVLA together with you car licence,this should take no longer that 2weeks, if there is no problems with your health you will receive it back with provisional class C rigid entitlement, NOT C+E.(artic). |

Yes, a full UK driving licence acts as a provisional for higher categories. Check the categories on the back of your photocard, you must apply for some to be added, whereas others are added automatically.
