I am 17
i live in TEXAS
my mom's friend has been teaching me how to drive.
Her friend and i were take her truck and she will give me driving lessons. No i never had a permit to do this or whatever. So after a few lessons, i been able to drive on my own. I even drove to the store once, WITHOUT a LICENSE..the store is not too far from my home so i know i can be careful.
But now i wanna get my license so i dont have to worry about getting pulled over by the cops and having them find out i dont have a license. The question is, do i have to go to driving school or any stuff like that when i already know how to drive?

They give those classes for a reason.There is so much more to learn than controlling a vehicle.You need to learn signs and rules of the road.You being in Texas you need to learn how to drive defensively in bad weather.The answer is Yes!Learn as much as you can before you set out on your own.It's also required by law.You're right to worry about getting pulled over because if you do get caught you could wait a lot longer to get your license.Good luck and be smart,drive safe. |

Under TX state law, you must show proof that you have completed Driver's Ed before you will be eligible to obtain your Permit. Without DE, you cannot get your Permit until you are 18.

And you do not want to get caught by the police as an unlicensed driver- the penalty could keep you ineligible to obtain a license until up to age 21. |
