In Texas, all new drivers under 18 must complete a drivers education course before they can be licensed. The state of Texas lets the parent teach the student with the right books and stuff. Teens may begin the program at 14, but will not be able to get a learnerâ€™s permit until the age of 15.

This requires all those under 18 to start out with a permit, only driving with a licensed adult (21 or older) in the car with them. Teens need to have this permit for six months or until they turn 16 before they can move on to a "teen" license.

The "teen" license lets teens drive without an adult, but not with more than one friend under 21 in the car with them. And they can't drive between midnight and 5 a.m.

After six months, you can drive at night and with friends, but your license will still be provisional. There are also some cases where you can drive during restricted times, such as if it's necessary to get to work or take care of a medical emergency.

Yes you do. It is a law in this state. I live in Ma. Its no big deal to get one.

You don't need a permit before you get a license, it just helps to get you used to driving and makes the road test easier.

And I hate to get on an English lesson here, but it's "permit when you're 15". You're being the same as saying you are. Your is used when using it as possessive, as in "your car".

You really need to fix this now. If you don't know the difference, just type "you are" if that's what you mean. I know many college degree holding folks that don't get this right. Believe me, it sticks out like a sore thumb to most people.

Yes, you can't get a license until you have practiced driving and did all the preliminary things, showing id, etc. You need to hold a permit first before taking the final test, regardless of age in most states.

not sure ... what state do you live in that would really help... I live in nc and you cant get a license until you are 18 unless you graduate high school .... but if you wait until you are 18 then you dont have to have a permit...
check your local state laws or call the dmv

You can get your permit at 15. After you've had the permit one year you can get your license. If you dont get a permit you have to wait till you're 18 to get your license.

Yeah. You have to have a permit,before getting a license.

Yes. You need to have your permit for one full year before you can get your operator's license for 6 months, then you can get your license. (Your operator's license only means that you can't drive anyone around for that period of time.)
