I need to know how to ask for compensation. Otherwise its a chunk out of my check for gas. I was hiried locally and now the company wants me to drive out 30 miles from my home to another office and take on 3 times the responsibility.
They have a tendancy to make big deals out of little things when I went to talk about a problem with a co worker. ( they basically turned it around on me and now im moved to another office) Im hesitant to write a letter asking for compensation as they might see that as just being a trouble maker. At this point Im about ready to quit for the horrid way I was treated.
Another concern is that other workers with the same rate of pay as myself, have the same job. They have always worked for another office( thus driving far) and had a chance to negotiate wadges and didnt.
The fact is I was hired at a certin rate per hour for working locally at the main office. Now they expect me to drive 30 miles from home and havent offerd a slight raise to pay for the gas.

Unless you were told at the time you were employed that you would be paid mileage for driving your own car , you are out of luck..You really have to drive all of 30 miles ?? I know a lot of men that drive farther than that and are glad to do so to keep their job to support their families..You are aware of our nations employment situation I assume..Sounds like you have some growing up to do.. |

You went to them with a problem with a coworker. They solved the problem. Now you are making another problem? Be thankful you have a job at all. If you don't like the solution to your problem, and want to work closer to home, move, or quit and find another job. |

Companies do not offer raises for lateral transfers. That is a transfer to a new office working the same position you had previously. It does not matter what anybody else has tried to negotiate. You are not a union worker, therefore what anyone else makes does not concern you or your employment.
Your only recourse is to take the hit with the new office, or look for a new job.
