Driving lessons?

does anyone know of a good driving instructor in the blackburn area? learning in an automatic car? i was with BSM but unfortunately i had to leave because their prices went up and being a housewife every penny counts! thank you

i have tried manual but for personal reasons automatic is the way for me.
i have my own car already and i drive it almost daily with my husband and all i need lessons for is to practice my maneuvres as we just never seem to get chance to. day to day driving is fine, if we need to go somewhere i drive, i just need to sort my maneuvres out x

Have you tried learning in a manual car?

What I suggest you do then is to look in the phone book and see if there are any automatic instructors in the area. We cant say who would be good for you because the people we found were good might not suit your learning style.

If there arent any decent automatic instructors, you could ask any other instructor if they would teach you manouvers in your car.

Why don't you try to learn in a manual transmission car? Automatic has nothing to be learnt as such

if every penny counts-why are you learning in an automatic?
you will only be licenced for automatics and they are more expensive to buy and far more expensive to repair than manual vehicles

also, bsm are probably one of the best firms available - meaning they won't put you in for a test unless they are almost certainb you will pass - again saving money on retests

A good instructor is only as good as his pupil. I.E, the willingness of the pupil to listen, learn, and put into practice.
An Instructor good for one learner might not suit another.
You would be better off getting involved in one of the high intensity driving courses which (I believe last about a week) have better pass results. They might sound expensive but in the long run can work out cheaper and you'll get your license quicker.

Word of mouth is the best option, ask your friends who they learnt with. You might struggle a bit because you are learning in an automatic and not as many instructors teach in them. Failing that, try yellow pages and yell.com. Remember the cheapest is not necessarily the best, and if you are struggling to afford lessons then you may struggle to afford the running cost of a car.

BSM are not necessarily the best option. Any decent instructor wont put you in for test unless you're ready. Many decent instructors have been with BSM and left them because they deliver quality instruction and can easily maintain business by word of mouth (I'm not knocking BSM).
