Driving test problem?

The Simple answer to this is, NO. You can book your own test and use your own car. Your car must have a passenger rear view mirror fitted ( suction) failure to do so will result in a no test.

At the moment in the UK, there is no requirement to have driving lessons from a qualified instructor, only a recommedation.

You don't have to have a driving school car for a test, you can use your own vehicle, so long as it complies with the regulations.

Where do you live? In South Africa you do not need one, but apparently you pass the test easier when they can see you have been to a driving school. My mother taught me how to drive, and when the time was right I went for two lessons just to get all the info on what I will do at the test. I went with the driving school's car and passed it the first time.

No, not true.

I know so many people that were taught to drive by family members in regular - non dual-control cars - that took the test in that car and passed. Some people tend to think it "looks better" if you appear in a 'proper' learner car with the whumping great L's all over it.

You can book the test yourself through the DVLA website in the UK.

no you do not need a driving instructor to book your practical test. just make sure that you have had enough lessons with a compitant driver cus you do not have to do it all over again and make sure you cover all aspects of the practical test. i am not a qualified driving instructor but i have learnt lots of people to drive and only one had to take there test for a second time cus there nerves got to much for them so make sure you are ready. good luck

Im not 100% sure but my friend learnt to drive with his grandad and managed to book his theory and practical with no worries so im sure u don't but then they may have found a way around it.

No, the UK has no legal requirement for the use of a qualified instructor.

I don't think that is true at all, ring the licencing people, they will tell you for certain but your dad should be able to take you.

I think you do yes. But you could just have one lesson with an instructor and then take your test.

You don't in PA - you do have to have a licensed driver over 21 with you when you practice. Look up the Department of Motor Vehicles in yr state online, it should have the answers. You could also call or check your learner's manual. Sometimes taking driving lessons from a "pro" can save you money on yr insurance.

yes it is true your instructor will book it because you will be using his car for the driving test!

make sure you instructor agrees with you to book the test as he is your instructor and knows best for you

see what he says from there and good luck!

(pass your driving 1st and worry about your insurance later)
