My friend got pulled over with no registration and no insurance in Waterbury CT. He has a court date for Jan 8th. Does anyone know how much the fine will be? Or where I could try to obtain this information?

Your friend absolutely needs to hire an attorney. An attorney can go to the prosecutor and plea bargain the deal. He/she will need to have insurance in place before going to court also. The attorney will strike a deal pleading guilty to the driving without possession of the registration, a fine between $500 & $1000. The judge will give a stern warning but will go with what the prosecuters office suggests. It is all about the generating money into the court system as they plea bargain much more serious crimes. Otherwise your friend will have their license suspended for 1 year, pay a similar fine, and have to buy high risk insurance for the next several years. If you have more questions, e-mail me. |

i think his best bet would be-GET A LAWYER- he just might have to pay a big fine and have his driver's license suspended. as a driver that would rather not have to pay for car insurance but DOES I hope he gets punished. what would have happened if god forbid he was the cause of a bad car accident, NO INSURANCE<NO DRIVING-please |

I don't find it on line, but a call to the Waterbury PD or the court should get you the maximum fine in the case.
If your friend shows up in court with registration and insurance in hand they may reduce the fine now that he has become law abiding of course. |

why was he/she driving in the first place?if your friend had hit anyone whilst he/she was driving and killed that person the family would have sued him/her and not the insurance.if i was judging your friend it would be considerable |

man i pulled that stunt when i was 17, duh never again!! I live in new york state and the penalty for no insurance is 500 dollars and a one year suspension and if the locality you got the ticket gets a fine too. Overall with the no insurande no registration and switched plates it cost me well over 1500 to clean up that mess about 8 years ago. |

The fines will be around $500.00 or more. You may also get your license suspended for 6 months. Don't drive without insurance! |
