My license is suspended and expired, and my registration just expired on February 3rd. I don't have the money right now to get my license and plates together. If I get my license back valid, if I get caught in March with expired tabs, what will happen?

A fine, and probably a reinstatement fee. A state trooper friend once told me that an expired plate is legally the same as no plate at all. You're driving on very thin ice--twice! |

In my state, you could be arrested and spend a night in jail or just get a ticket. Law enforcement here is very uneven -- almost selective enforcement. If they don't like your looks or are having a bad day, beware. Total discretion as to whether to make your life temporarily misreable or not. |
