My boyfriend got arrested tonight for driving a car with no insurance (and therefore no license plates) and he already had his license suspended for street racing, and his car taken away.
Now if you're gonna tell me that he's an idiot for doing what he did, please don't, because I'm already depressed as it is. I know what he did was stupid, but it's not like I did it, and it's not like he murdered or hurt someone. I guess driving is like an addiction for him.
Anyways, I'm in Ontario. Does anyone know how long he can go to jail for that? If I go to a police station near his house, will they give me any information? Am I aloud to visit him? And, I'm worried about him because I don't know what kind of people are in there. Are the prisoners closely watched? He's under 18.
All I know is that the police came to his house. The only person that was there was his mother. She tried calling me but she doesn't speak English. So I got his cousin to translate, and he said that he got two nights in jail. Is it possible for them to know that this early? It happened tonight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt that he would get any jail for no insurance, maybe for driving with a suspended license. In the U.S. you can get a copy of the laws on the internet, maybe find out how to do this. Most of the laws have variable fines, jail. You can get up to 6 months in jail for no insurance in the U.S., but I doubt that many even get one day in jail. If you get a DUI in MOntana, that is an automatic day in jail, but I do not know if it is immediate or after a plea. |
