Driving without license by mistake?

I have no idea I am afraid as here in the UK you do not have to carry your license. In this country if you are pulled over and do not have your licence on you then you get 14 days to take your liscence, insurence details and MOT certificate to the police station.

Take your driver's license to the courthouse where you'd pay the ticket, and they will dismiss the charge.

surely you get a certain time period in which to produce your drivers license.

My husband's a cop. They could technically ticket you but he said that if you could give him your DL # and he could check you for warrants then he would give you a warning (if you were warrant free of course.) But it's at the officer's discretion what they want to do about it so I suggest being polite and respectful and just explain the situation calmly.

It has been my experience that if you do have a drivers license and you take it with you to court, the case is dismissed. It does, of course mean a day wasted. But that is better than having no license and being fined rather heftily. By all means if you've been given a court date it would be in your best interest to show up. Otherwise the penalty could be quite extreme. In some states they will send a form to you and you are allowed the option of paying by mail. However once you do that you have pled guilty. It would be more beneficial to go in person, show your license, then go on your merry way.

Well police should be able to run a SS # and see that the person does in fast have a valid license. Will still more than likely get a ciation but could easily be fought. Just go to the courthouse with the ticket and license within so many days and it should be dropped, or at least most of the cost. There might be a court date set, just simply show up for court. Regardless, nothing much should happen besides maybe some sort of fine.

It depends on the local laws and the mood of the cop. I have been pulled over without my license before and they just reminded me to have it at all times. I have also heard of other people being ticketed for it.

as long as you had a valid license at the time you should have the ticket expunged from you record.

It depends upon how bad your attitude was with the cop.

In most states if you can produce your driver's license within 24 hours to the place you pay your ticket they will suspend the ticket for that. Go to your local area where fines are paid and check it out. WITH YOUR LICENSE...
