Exchange insurance if shopping car hits a car?

I was at the grocery store today and was returning a shopping cart to a bunching of them in the parking lot. Unfortunately, it created a domino effect and one shopping car hit a car and left the tinniest scratch on the bumper. The lady wanted my insurance information. I felt that since I was not in my car (the incident only involved her car) I should give her my insurance info. I did offer to pay for it, but said I wouldn't give her my insurance info? She eventually said don't worry about it.
Was I correct or was she correct? Thanks.

The title should read shopping cart not car.
I meant to say I felt I shouldn't have to give her my info, not should as was typed.

You were right, your car insurance wouldn't have covered this.
Just my opinion, but if you returned the cart to a designated 'cart return' area, then you are not at all liable. It's not your fault that the grocery carts got out of control. |
