my dad passed away last week and i have both of his car titles for cars that were already paid off. Im also "unofficial' executor of estate since he had me named that in his will but nothing was never notarized. what steps to do i need to go through to have auto titles to be put in my name since im keeping the cars anyways since they are already in my possession. I have no intention of selling at least at this point, or do i even "have" to have them in my name?

Unofficial executor means nothing.
An unnotarized will can still be upheld, if it's signed, in TX.
You will have to go through probate, and have a judge name you official executor.
Yes, you will have to put them in your name, as your dad can't buy an insurance policy for them, so you can't insure or register them in his name. |

First of all, if the will was never witnessed or notarized, you will have to have it declared legal by a court. If I were you, I'd get some help from a lawyer on this, otherwise, you're in for a mess trying to get it all straightened out. |
