Hello,
I'm going to be completley honest, I don't know anything about cars, except for the fact that I desperatley want one. I want to be filled in as to what I actually need to know, which type of car is ideal for a young person, pricing [obviously USED], etc. Any info would be helpful. I also live in NYC and some people tell me I don't need a car, but I feel like in the long run I'll need one.
I appreciate any comments.

It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota... First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car - for example here - autoinsurance.noneto.com |

you want a car that is reliable and long lasting. you also need a car that is tough, and fugly since it will get beat up in new york city traffic. look for something like a mid 90's volvo, or something similar. |

i dont know youre financial situation, but my guidelines are....
stay under 60,000 miles.
stick with the big 3, or better yet ,honda or toyota.
have the vehicle inspected by a professioal shop before purchase.
ask for a free carfax report before purchase.
research extended warranties online before purchase.
have someone read the extended warranty word for word before buying it.im a 35yr ase master tech and these policies confuse me!
please shy away from exotic or european cars.
shop,shop,shop for financing, get a rate, find a place that can beat it, and come back with that rate, then do it again if needed.
if a dealer asks "how much do you want to pay a month", run for the door. |
