You will have to check your individual insurance.
Not all fully comp policies have this clause.
If it has then you are normally only covered 3rd party when driving a car that is not yours.

Not sure that's totally right...on my hubby's certificate it says he can drive any motor vehicle with the owner's permission, but I'm also insured fully comp and it doesn't say it on my certificate. Best check with your insurer.

Not necessarily. It's a myth that comprehensive cover allows one to drive another person's vehicle with third party cover. That used to be the case, but insurance companies have got wise to it and now, if they allow it at all, only permit it in an emergency.

A lot of people still believe this to be the case without actually checking their insurance bumph fully.

Yes you can but you will only be covered for third party and not have the Fully Comp insurance as when you are in your own car. So be very carefull.

Most fully comp policies will insure you to drive another vehicle which does not belong to you, BUT the cover is limited to third party risks only. So you are legal but if you bend the other persons car then the insurance company will not pay for it. The only way to be fully covered is to be named as a driver on that car's policy or if that car's policy is for "any driver" (quite rare).

Hello

Check your policy?
Most FC policies cover you for any other car you borrow.
As long as you do not own it or have not hired it. But the cover drops down to 3rd Party, Fire and Theft.
If the 2 people you talked to are married then they are covered on each others policies FC as Spouse.

If you are not married to the other person who may drive your car, then you would be better getting each other put on as named drivers on each others insurance as this would then give you the FC cover on both cars. This is normally a £30 admin fee only.

yes but they will only be covered for third party only
this means if a accident was to happen your car will not get repaired
best advice is to check your policy
hope this helps

Any licensed driver may drive any vehicle with the vehicle owners permission. Insurance follows the vehicle not the driver.

Of course it is true but "fully comp" has nothing to do with it. Clarify your question
