they will find out. they will run your driving record and find your tickets and your rate will go up.

Worst case they will decline to insure you and refund a portion of any payment you have made.

Best case, they will send you a revised premium.

Either way, as you have learned, it is better to be truthful up front, because if they drop you for falsifying information, you may not be able to go back with them (and they have some of the best rates..)

That means you will have lied yourself into more expensive insurance.

Getting a quote just means getting a price, nothing more. You haven't gone ahead with it so you can lie all you want but their quote will not be accurate as it is based on false info.
If you are trying to get a cheap price just take many quotes from everyone, so long as you are at a legitimate site it's ok to give your info, if you don't buy from them you can say all you want, but if you lie you will be wasting time as their quotes won't be accurate, that's the only downside.
If you are looking to pay less:
Buy a cheap car for cash, so that you can get liability only. (and personal health/injury won't hurt if you get it)
Get many quotes from just about everyone, so that you then can buy from the cheapest one, making sure you aren't buying from some scammer but from a legitimate insurer.
That's it.
These are good as they'll give you multiple quotes, no obligation to buy: http://www.cheapcarinsurance.esuperfind.com?id=ap3
they are connected to the main USA insurers.

When they run your driving record and find out the truth, they will adjust the quote.

A quote is only an estimate based on the information provided. If the information is false, then the quote won't be valid.
