well im turning 16, and im getting a car, what my parents are talking abut is getting a good car, that is safe and taht the insurance is not extremly expensive, so my question is to someone with expirience with this, what is a good car to buy that can also have lower insurance costs than others. im pretty sure abut a new car but im not sure it can be both would that make a diffrence. please helpp.

Anything that is sporty is going to have higher insurance. I would suggest going with a four-door car. For reliability I would go with a Honda (like a Civic or Acccord) or a Toyota. Also, insurance on small trucks is normally lower. It really depends on how much you and your parents are planning on spending. You should research safety ratings for cars on www.consumerreports.com. Also, if you decide to go with a used car, see if any of the credit unions in your area work with wholesale companies. Some of them might and you can normally get a better price. You just tell the wholesale agent what you are looking for and they look at the auctions that only licensed wholesalers can get into to find you the best deal. New cars cost more to insure than used ones (because they cost more if they are stolen, vandalized, etc.)
Sport cars and SUVs cost more than station wagons. There are tons of factors that are plugged into a formula.
Let's be honest however, you are 16, and that, by itself, will cost you more than anything else, by far. |

right now anything made by Nissan is real cheap to insure,and they are good car to own,they also have good safety rating,but as far as insurance and repairs go the Nissan is a good choice on a new or used car,good luck on it. |

You Should Get A Sedan. Their Insurance Rates Are By Far Cheaper Than Coupes. You Should Get A Volvo, Honda, Or Toyota. Make Sure You Get It Used Because You Will Probably Put Chips And Dents On It. |
