Got into an accident...no insurance...help!!!?

So I was driving home last night. Someone pulls out in front of me, I swerve, end up going sideways and plow into a curb and a speed sign. It was raining and I'm in a truck. Anyways, the guy takes off and I'm just sitting there. I didn't hit him but my truck is severely damaged. Basically the entire passenger side will need to be fixed. I have no insurance on the thing and I'm guessing there is somewhere around 8-9K in damage. What can I do? I guess I could go put insurance on it and submit a claim but I think they would see right through that. PLEASE HELP!!!

Trying to claim on a policy you purchase after an accident is insurance fraud, and all companies prosecute that vigorously, and make no exceptions.
Likely, at that level of damage, you have to submit a police report as well.
Unfortunately, you are stuck with covering the damages yourself.
Ignore John S, he is advocating the commission of a crime. Body specialists can tell the difference between old and new damage, by the way, and with the rain that was falling, your damage would already identify as old.
Let that be a lesson to others on the folly of driving uninsured. Imagine what you would be facing if you had slid into a cyclist, a pedestrian, a child, or someone in a wheelchair! |

In order to get full coverage insurance they will need to see the vehicle first and they most likely will take pictures of it, so you can't get insurance after the fact. That's why you need to get insurance beforehand...I guess your **** outta luck!!! |

Sorry to hear about your accident and the damage caused to your vehicle, but without any Insurance cover, I am afraid the repair costs are your responsibility. be grateful that you did not hit a pedestrian instead of a road sign. No Insurance company will give you cover that would have to be backdated. |

If you try to put insurance on the vehicle after the fact and file a claim that is insurance fraud. It is a crime. I felony actually. In addition, the insurance company will require you file a police report. Filing a false police report is also a crime. I don't recommend that.
Also- many insurance companies require that insurance agents inspect the car before putting full coverage on it. This is to prevent what you are trying to do.
You chose not to have insurance on the vehicle. You chose to take the risk that if something happened to the truck there would be no insurance. In exchange for not paying insurance premium you gambled. Unfortunately, your gamble did not pay off. |

You are out of luck and soon will be out 8-9 thousand. Buying insurance after an accident and then reporting the accident is considered insurance fraud and will result in jail time. Besides, they would ask to inspect your car before insuring it. Even if they didn't first inspect the car they would see through this in a heartbeat. I'll say what you already know. Don't drive without insurance ! |

" I guess I could go put insurance on it and submit a claim but I think they would see right through that. "
That statement right there is insurance fraud which is a felony.
Even if you tried to do this, your agent would inspect your vehicle for prior damage before giving your comprehensive and collision coverage.
Chuck it up as a loss and take it as a hard lesson learned.
You are reponsible to pay for the repairs to your truck, and you are also responsible for any damage you caused to the curb and the sign.
Please, go buy some insurance. |

you wont be able to get insurance after the fact. They look at vehichle before. Its sad , but not likely much you can do but get insurance next time. |

1.) Shop around at different car shops and get the best estimates you can. Someone will always be willing to bid a bit lower than the last estimate you received. But beware of those trying to take advantage of you.
2.) See what's broken. If someone gives you an unusually high estimate for what seems like a common part, ask him for the names of parts he's telling you you need, and look them up online to see what they're pricing for. Show the mechanics you aren't an idiot.
3.) Look for quick fixes you can do yourself at home that can help lower the estimates you'll be given. Replacing busted clips, busted headlights, etc...pulling out big dents, fixing a busted mirror, or buffing out some scratches will more than likely help lower the price of an estimate from a shop. As well as doing any mechanic work you feel you have enough know-how to take care of on your own.
4.) Look for used parts at junk yards, car lots, etc. This is the BIGGEST money-saver in the world. I promise.
This is probably your best bet if you've got no insurance. It might be a bit steep, but to me, if you can pinch as many pennies as possible, and still get it looking like new, that's better than having to pay insane insurance rates. Especially since you have none at the moment. I did this with my car when I wrecked it. I promise it saved me an arm and a leg. ;/ |

get full coverage insurance and wait like a month and tell them this happened or if you got any friends pay them something to say they hit you and caused the damage. but otherwise your screwed and will end up paying the price. |
