I like this one -

i quote all the time and the lowest price i get is £5200 for a year and monthly instalments of £468, i wonder where in their brain do they they think i can pay that every month, i work and pay my rent, sky, internet, gas, tax, credit card etc. what must i do i cant afford to pay £468 more on bills.

Ifyou can't pay the premium - don't drive the car - gift or not - if you can't afford it, you can't drive it - end of story.

You are 19 and have a BMW given to you as a 'gift'....what do you want - a policy that costs £100....DREAM ON - NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

You have no driving experience as such, drive an expensive car.

Sell it or get whoever gace it to you to pay the insurance - you are not going to get cheap insurance at your age with that car.

One Happy Egg
You wont get much less than that at your age. Sell it and get a smaller car.

i dont think you have any chance of finding cheap car insurance because of your age and inexperience.
That doesnt mean you're a bad driver, you could be the best there is.

Perhaps you should try a comparison site such as confused.com

I wish you luck because I know its a problem

Emma
The one that gave you the free BMW should have thought about the fact that car insurance is much more expensive than the car itself on an annual basis.

maybe your parents can insure it as their car but name you as a driver ? just an idea .. like everyone else has said the insurance for this car will be high for you .

only thing one can do is look up a few places and call them.. all prices wil be high on a bmw you just have to shop a round for best price look in phone book or just type in auto insurance and name of city you might go with unname places that sell it leave the name brands companies a lone

Hi and Happy New Year. I live in NYC and what I will tell you is this. First, you need to understand the insurance laws of your country. In NYC, if you are 19 years old with a high symbol car, there is no such thing as cheap insurance.

Please consider these things, for anyone, that needs car insurance:

1- Your car makes a difference. There are low symbol and high symbol cars. BMW, Lexus, etc...luxury cars are high symbols. High symbol cars are more expensive because repair costs are more, if there is an accident.

2- If you have never had insurance before, you are considered a new driver. You are considered a high risk because you don't have a driving record. In NY, once you have 6 months of prior insurance coverage, IF you have a great broker and that broker has AT LEAST 10 different insurance companies they represent, you want to tell your broker to "shop" you around for cheaper rates.

3-Your territory also makes a difference. Where you live.

4- Some insurance company looks at your education, your credit score, your job/career, if you own a home...it's a lot of stuff.
Bottom line, educate yourself about HOW insurance quotes and rates work so that you can always know the facts and this way you won't get cheated. Good luck.

ask your parents or an older adult to do the insurance and then add yourself as a named driver. the price might come down quite a lot. i'm 17 and my parents bought me a new mini cooper for my 17th and the insurance would have been around £2500 for my self but we insured it with me as a named driver and it is now about £1150 a year. still not cheap but much better

What is the exact model? If it's the one I'm thinking of it will be Group 10 insurance which will be a minimum of around £1000 at your age. At 19 years old you are considered high-risk so you'll be paying high insurance for the next three or four years but if you can keep from making any claims (even if an accident isn't your fault a claim is still a claim) the price will fall eventually.

If you can afford £1000-£1500 keep phoning around - always deal with human beings on the phone, NOT computers and phony price comparison websites - and see if you can't get them to beat each other's quotes. Sheila's Wheels is probably a good place to start.

If you can't get an affordable deal, put the car up for sale and find a small car under 1499cc that falls into a low insurance group - group 6 or 7.

At your age there is no such thing as 'cheap insurance'. Better sell the car on and use the money to get something you can afford. DON'T BE TEMPTED TO DRIVE WITHOUT COVER!

You will not get one at your age perhaps less expensive but not cheap.
i'm sorry you feel people have been rude or unreasonable to you and I have not yet read other answers but companies of your someone is quite rude so perhaps you are getting no more than you deserve. The Companies look on someone of your age as an accident looking for somewhere to happen. In other words they do not particularly want to insure you, hence the high premiums.
Try one of the online Insurance comparators but do not go to the motoring associations they are very expensive.

deadrat
As you have probably realised by now you will not find any cheap insurance, you ask how they think you can afford the premiums quoted, they don't, they just don't want your business.

If you're a student Endsleigh do quite good student rates and deals. Other than that, I would just have a go at the price comparison websites, see what it turns up. Insurance is always expensive until you hit 25 anyway, no matter what you drive. Sorry but you might have to either pay the premiums, or trade in your lovely gift for a smaller, more affordable car.

Sell it and get a car that you can afford to run, or get a better job

My son is 20 and is in the same situation as you, he paid £300 deposit and £160 a month. I agree it's disgusting, but you only have the joyriders and young chavs who knick cars to blame.

his is a little nissan micra, maybe get a smaller car.
he had to buy his own.!!

Try "ecar-insurance.co.uk"

They are pretty damn cheap.

Twisted_Ace
For someone your age, there is no such thing as cheap insurance, never very 'very cheap'.

Cheap insurance comes with age, experience and not having any accidents. There's no other way, I'm afraid.

hi i know these comments might seem harsh and u r asking for help and people might be upsetting u but MOST of them have probably been through wot u're going through. it is going to be vey hard finding a cheap qoute, u can either keep checking the comparison sites or u can get a smaller car.good luck hope it works out 4 u.

jacobs jordie
sell the car, with the money buy a 1991 panda 750cc get third-party-only so the insurers won't have to take up the risk and that's your cheap insurance that you need so much.. You'll go the same places as the "BMW compact 02 plate" and even further considering you'll be able to keep the panda in petrol/tyres/tax disk/oil and filter changes.

There is no solution to your problem. This question has been asked about 50 times a day each day for the last 3 years. If you just search yahoo answers (using the little search box) you will discover that you are not the only 19 year old wanting to drive some mustang or some highly powerful car and then complaining of high insurance quotes.

There is a reason why insurance companies don't want to trust you and your powerful car: because 19 year olds driving big powerful cars are dying in big numbers all over the roads all over the world.
And there's no explaining to them about this, so insurers will cover themselves since they are the ones left behind to pick up the pieces.

Dude some of these people are ****head's. I am 20 and have the same car but I am insured under my dads name. I pay £750 a year with the RAC.

If you really want to drive it try and get it insured under someone who has been driving a long time with a long no claims bonus.

lollllllllll
that sounds wayyyy too much
you can get it miles cheaper you just gotta shop around www.autodirect.com are very cheap and mostly insure young ppl ..
www.confused.com is good
www.compare.com is good too
