Good insurance policies don't need a learner driver listed, as you have to be in the car with him and are therefore responsible for his actions.

There will be a much bigger excess if he has an at fault accident - just be prepared for that.

If your current insurance company doesn't cover under 25's, you need to work out if this is normal policy or because of the type of car you drive. (eg some company's won't cover under 25's driving a V8 or turbo charged motor vehicle).

Try Suncorp - they may cost a little more (not always) but they have good policies & a very easy claims service. Try to go into a branch if possible as you may get bigger discounts.

Otherwise, call AAMI, RACQ or NRMA. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Also, when he does get his DL, Suncorp offer a rating 1 discount for under 25's whose parents have an eligable comphrensive car policy with them.

By the way, these are Australian companies.
