He has to fix this right?

i bought a brand new car about 2 weeks ago. i didn't notice until last night, when i got pulled over that the temp tags said that they expired in January of 08 so i thankfully didn't get a ticket but the man who sold me the car has to fix it & give me a new one right ?? some one please answer this.. ive been stressing all night! & i know how long you can keep your temp tags.. but what im saying is that he wrote them out to expire 11 months ago. which is impossible if i bought the car 2 weeks ago

I agree that it was probably just a simple mistake. Ask the guy to assign you new temp tags, and begin the process of securing permaent tags. No big deal.

well temp tags are so one can drive to dmv to get new ones which is what your to do not the guy who sell it but you have to take car to dmv and buy new tags is why they call temp tag most are good for 14 days... and maybe he made a mistake and yes he shoul dgive you another but really why not just go get new ones

in mass you doi its the lemon law with a 30 day policy if the car is 700 or more

He probably meant to write January, '09, and just wrote '08 by habit. Go back to the same guy and get him to give you a new temp tag. I had to do this twice because it took so long to get my permanent plates. In Texas your temp tag is good for 21 days. If you reach that date and don't get your permanent plates, go back to the dealership and get them to make you a new temp tag.

Right you are. He needs to get his act together and learn the laws of regristration and licsening of a vehicle.Or if you want proof go to any D.O.T facility and they will have the necessary information for your needs. I think if you show him some proof then he won't be able to deny you anything. Otherwise without some proof he may try to deny it and give you the run around. With the proof in your hand he can't say a word about it at all.

Probably just an honest mistake. every ..well..almost everyone still write the previous year down as the current year in January. I know I use to do that on my homework assignments. .. But to answer your question yes he does have to fix it. By law you have 30 days to purchase new plates or transfer your old plates to the new vehicle.

No, he does NOT have to fix it and give you a new one. You usually get 30 days on temp tags.

Likely, he sold you this car illegally. PLEASE tell me he gave you the title when you bought the car. Otherwise, he didn't have the right to sell it to you.

If he gave you the title, you can go down to the dmv today and get permanent tags. Those temp tags were CLEARLY written out to someone else.
