Gonna buy a 2.5 Litre Nissan Skyline for £3000
Gonna buy a cheap car with cheap *** insurance for about £500
Gonna register the Skyline to my dad, and pay for him to insure it, itl be about £800
Gonna take out a policy on my cheap car that comes with a third party extension, itl be about £1200 (Im 18)
Then I'll be covered driving my 'Dads' Skyline under the insurance from my cheap car. My Dad will most likely drive it as much as I will (he loves fast cars)
Insurance for myself would cost about 10 grand (no including the car, thats just the insurance) which I dont have
What do I have to worry about legally here? Cheers

Providing your father buys the Skyline from you then legally there is no problem. However from your age I don't think you'll find the driving other cars section easy to get (I wonder why?) - however I assume you have checked on the availability.
Of course if the Skyline is stolen when you are in control then there is no cover and only last week in Durham the son of the County Coroner was killed driving a Nissan Imprezza. From your general attitude I would caution you most strongly against driving a powerful motor vehicle until you have learnt how to control a lesser-powered one. |

I see a flaw in this. You're spending £5,500 on a £3000 Skyline, which for that money will either be a 'wannabe' Skyline ( non-turbo, rwd), or a complete money pit. |

If you want to know for sure, run it by your insurance agent as a "hypothetical" question. I'm reasonably sure it would be insurance fraud. |

The third party extension on most policies is for emergencies only. It's not obvious but is in the small print somewhere. Most insurance companies would refuse to pay out if you were driving the skyline regularly so if you hit someone you would be liable personally, as well as the fines that go with inadequate insurance. I've tried similar too but checked it out properly first. Sorry to urinate on your bonfire. |

A cunning plan but;
1) When insuring the cheap car, they'll ask if you have access to any other cars= they won't cover the Skyline
2) When your dad tries to insure the skyline, they'll ask who else will drive it= they won't cover him with you on the policy.
3) What you're proposing is known as 'fronting', it's illegal and you won't be covered for either car. |

Gee, I don't know where you are, but here in America, anyone can put you on their insurance policy. So out here, your dad could put you on his insurance policy with out having to put the cheap car in his name. You would just be on his policy and it would give you cheaper insurance. But the way you are doing it, I see no legal issues there. But I'm from America. |

THIS IS INSURANCE FRAUD AND BOTH YOU AND YOUR DAD WILL BE FINED AND COULD FACE JAIL TIME.
YOU HAD BETTER RE-THING THIS THING THROUGH AGAIN. |

its just like your dad has bought the car, aslong as the car is insured i.e by your dad then while your driving your insured 3rd party only but everything has to be in your dads name. and also what is a nissan impreza????????? if u crash the car say into a tree you wont get anthing off the insurance company, the car will be a loss so really its not worth it cos u could lose alot of money on it, your best bet would be getting a traders policy then u would be insured on anything up to there limitation which is normally 3.0 |
