Hit and run on my car... Do I put it on insurance?

My car is recently paid off and I still have full coverage insurance. Someone did a hit and run on my car in a parking lot. Needs a new bumper and rear quarter panel. Drives OK, but its ugly. should I put it on insurance ( and will that just raise my rates ...), pay to fix it myself, or just keep driving a dinged car until I'm ready to buy another car?

You should file a claim with your insurance company. You would only be subject to your collision deductible. Your insurance will not go up it was a not at fault accident. You need the date this happened and approx. time it happened in order to file the claim. A police report is always useful... the police normally don't do reports on private property but when it's a hit and run they sometimes will. |

If you file a claim that goes towards an "acident" on your insurance. so your rate may go up but if you want your car to look good and have good resale value then yes i would get it fixed and make sure when you take it to a body shop to tell them you want them to cover your deductible. if they dont find a bodyshop that will. |

SOMEONE HIT MY CAR WHILE IT WAS PARKED LEGALLY IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND LEFT THE SCENCE. THE POLICE LOCATED THE VEHICLE AND MADE CONTACT WITH THE OWNER. HE SAID THE CAR HAD BEEN STOLEN THE NIGHT OF THE ACCIDENT BUT HAD NEVER REPORTED IT. NOTE: THE ACCIDENT OCCURED APPOROX 3 A.M. SUNDAY MORN. SUNDAY AFTERNOON THE POLICE FOUND THE CAR. THEY CONTACTED WHAT THEY BELIEVE TO BE THE OWNER BUT HE WOULD NOT COME TO ID THE CAR. SAID HE DID NOT HAVE TIME. HE HAD TO REPORT HIS CAR STOLEN. HE NEVER CAME TO THE CAR AS POLICE REQUESTED. THEY ENDED UP TOWING THE CAR TO A JUNK YARD/STORAGE FACILITY. CAN I FIND OUT WHO OWNS THE CAR AND IF THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY CAR OR AM I RESPONSIBLE? SOMEONE HELP ME |
