How can I get a title on a Motorcycle with only bill of sale.?

Does anyone know how to get the title to a motorcycle. I bought the bike 1 year ago, and I have the Bill of Sale. The seller said he had filed for a lost title and expected it back within 1 week. He has since disappeared, I heard he was in Jail, but I really have no idea. I have the bike and bill of sale...but no title! Does anyone know what procedures to follow in Alabama or anywhere??

well, you can call the police and advise you may have a stolen bike on your hands-you'll lose your money,though. call the DMV and/or verify the vin online; you should be able to get a history. But it may really be stolen, so reporting it is a safe thing to do Sorry! |
