You can get insurance and not tell them the vehicle was involved in a wreck before the policy is issued. Your problem would be that the insurance company would not honor claims filed against the new policy where the incident date and is before the policy's effective date and time.

You also mention "it got canceled". If you had auto insurance and the policy was canceled before the time and date of the incident, even if you got your insurance policy reinstated after the incident, the incident would not be covered because it happened during the time your policy was canceled.

btw, if there is a police report, the insurance company will know that you lied, and then probably take you to court for insurance fraud.

good luck though, maybe you shouldn't have cancelled your insurance if you didn't have the money for the fine or to get it fixed.

Any insurance company will ask you to have the vehicle inspected and want photos taken of the vehicle *before* they add it to a policy as part of the process. You could try to insure a totaled car, but you probably will not be able to. You definately cannot lie that it happened *after* you reinstated or reinsured the car.

Even if you manage to get it on a new policy, you have to file a stolen vehicle report and the company will request the police report for the stolen vehicle.

The police will also inform them that this was suspicious and let the insurance company know that they (the police) have already notified you today. So they'll tell the insurance company that you knew before you insured the car.

Just because you were stupid enough to leave your car unlocked with the key under the mat DOES NOT give you license to commit INSURANCE FRAUD.

Here is your wake-up call: Even if you were insured and you left the car UNLOCKED and WITH THE KEY IN THE VEHICLE. I would send any claim like this to Special Investigations, so fast your head would spin. Those facts ALONE would be grounds enough to DENY a legit claim.

Feel free to try. If you do then I still hope you get caught and do time, just like the first time you posted this question. Chances are that you will.

If you didn't report the truck stolen, how does anyone know it wasnt' YOU that wrecked the truck?? They'll fingerprint, anyway, and find someone else, but still.

You can't place the bet after the race is run. It's illegal, and it's not going to work.

you should be able to. re-instate the insurance and then refile the claim, if they have a problem, then show them this email
