They are not automatically removed when the points expire. If you check on the back of your licence, there is a section you have to tick to points removed. Send it back to the DVLA and they will remove the points and sent you a new licence. Unfortunately, there is a charge for this. |

send your licence to dvla with the correct fee and they will take them off. after the points have expired of course which is 4 years after the date of the offence. |

Points are only removed after they have expired. For purposes of the "totting up prcedures" points are valid for 3 years after being awarded but must remain on the licence for 4 years. After which you can apply for them to be removed and pay the fee. This is done via the DVLA.
The only way to get them removed for free is to change your address, but of course the points must have already expired |

they stay on your licence for 3 years and can be removed only after 4 years |

Wait 4 years.
They are spent after 3 years, but must stay your licence for 4 years, after which time you can pay to have them removed.
Failing that, buy a bottle of Tipp-ex |

Got to wait 3 years, haven't you. I, luckily, have just finished my three years, so can do it all again now !!! I'm joking of course. Check with your local friendly policeman? |
