How do I book my theory test (in Uk)? I tried doing it online but am asked for driving licence number ?

Dave J is almost spot on...but for you, because you are female, the second number in the string of 6 numbers in the middle will be either a 5 or a 6, not a 0 or 1.
The second and third numbers are your month of birth..01 to 12. males have these numbers used directly into the license numbers, females have 51 (january) to 59 (September) and 60 (Oct) 61(Nov) and 62(dec).
Find that number and that is your license number.

As welsh lad says, 5 letters (first five of your surname eg ROBIN for Robinson) 6 numbers (your date of birth in an different order eg 903251 for 25/03/91) then two letters (your first two initials - or if you only have 1 forename, one initial and a number 9) a number 9, and two random letters.

Will be similar to this ROBIN903251AB9AB

ps. this is a made up surname and date of birth so don't think I'm being stupid giving my own driving licence number out!!

Its the one with the first 5 letters which is your name surname and the 6 numbers after it.

yes it's the provisional driving licence number that you type into the forms

You have to type in your provisional licence number which stays with you whilst you hold a licence even when it is a full licence Its usually the first three letters of your last namea few numbers your first initials then year of birth similar to this: AAA22222222BB3CC

No disrespect but should you be applying for your test if you can't read your driving licence.
It brings back a story I was told by one of my pupils. This person phoned up a computer companies hotline. They had bought one of their computers but it wasn't working. The telephone operator asked if the green light was on the pc unit. The answer was NO, so have a look at the back of the unit, is the mains cable in, Answer came back she couldn't tell as it was dark, Why don't you turn the unit round so that you can see it, Answer can't do it, still dark...Ok, turn on a light, Answer can't got a power cut...Ok, do you still have the box the computer came in...Answer yes, is it serious they ask....No, just pack the computer up and take it back to the shop, Answer WHY? because you are thick and shouldn't have been let out.........
