How do I get rid of a car that has not been registered in years?

donate to charity they can always use the money and they might even come and have it towed to a facility . good luck .

Depends on your state, but try donating first. You get to write off whatever they sell it for from your taxes. If that's not an option, call a junkyard. They'll gladly come get it. My state, if it's not registered, it has to go. Otherwise, hefty fine. I'd call salvation army first. see if they'll come get it.

Sell it to an auction. They take cars as is.

Depends on the state you are in.

1) In some states if you possess the key and the car you can donate it.

2) Get a receipt and get the name of the company that physiclally towed it away

3) Contact your DMV (beforehand) to make sure that you know you can be removed off title after you donate it, and what that process is. This is important because sometimes donated cars are tweaked to run again and then sold. If the buyer does not register the car (that happens a LOT ) and has a accident, its possible they will come after YOU as the last registered owner.

don't let that scare you away from a donation.. its a good thing to do.. just do it prudently,.

The DMV doesn't want your car, that's not what they do. If you have the title, you can scrap it, sell it, or donate it. Just get it off your front lawn! <kidding>

ther is a thing on the web called car angel that will be glad to have the vehicle and do the right thing with the money

Your best bet is to donate it. American Lung Association is nation wide, as long as it will start they will take it. Even if it doesen't start , depending on what type of car it is they may still take it. if you would like to e mail me & let me know what state your in i may be able to help you find legitimate place to donate too

I don't know where you are, but certain agencies accept cars for OUTREACH work ...you could do a search on the net.

You could just find a PERSON IN NEED on your own and simply sign it over to them...

Depending on the condition, donating it might be your best bet

you dont need the registration to sell a car all you need is the title and that lasts forever the dmv should have a record of it as well.
