Today I was in an accident and my parents usually pay my insurance bill but they forgot and it's been about 2 months, how do I go about not having my license suspended. ( Yes I am now insured, renewed after I found out I was not covered ) Any help would be great.

you are allowed a hearing b4 they actually suspend it. i believe you have 10 days to file for the hearing, if they find u guilty they will proceed to take your license but they can only do this to help obtain the security amount for damages(whatever other driver's insurance decide) caused by the accident. its not a penalty once u pay the amount they will give license back. my advice is to go for appeal bring as many documents as you can and probably a parent also or if you can afford attorney bring him/her instead. if they find u guilty call the other insurance company right away and make a deal with them. sometimes they ll settle for half up front if your lucky. one more thing the state u live in can require you to get an Sr-22 before u can reinstate. this happened to me also what a nightmare....good luck. |

It would help to know what state. In Pennsylvania, you aren't allowed to register a car in your own name for six months, so you could have your parents take over ownership. Or you could go to your state congressman's office and speak to someone there. I know somebody who did that. |

Tell them you thought U were under parents blanket coverage

If you haven't been to court yet it will look good that you have coverage when you do go. However, if the accident was your fault it won't be good because an accident is an accident and if you are at fault the law is the law and the Judge will enforce it. You may have your parents there saying they didn't pay and it's their fault for that but, someone will have to pay and you can bet the ins. co. won't volunteer or even be expected to pay. So, more details are needed for more of an answer. No matter what it isn't good. I hope no one got hurt. I hope the vehicles weren't damaged? Someone will have to fix that as I said. So, a lot depends on what happened. Good luck. Be safe and more diligent next time. Soon you will pay for your own ins. and that is a part of growing up. I see your parents rates going up from this incident.
Hope not though. Learn from this, there are lessons to be learned from all experiences good and bad. |

You are going to have to appear in court most likely. Pay any costs of the accident if found to be your fault. And show proof of insurance and maybe pay a reinstatement fee. And you may get driving privileges to and from work or college. Good luck on this one, I would probably hire an attorney. God bless**** |

Fizzle has the right idea. Different states have different rules and regulations. Some states will not suspend your license if you prove to them that you now have insurance. As far as the accident, you will probably have to pay for it yourself since at the time you had no insurance |
