How do i change registration from one state to another?

To register your motorcycle for the first time in Texas, this is what you will need to do:

Go to the DMV or wherever they handle vehicle transfers in your area. In my area, it's the tax assessor's office in the county courthouse, but it may be different where you are. I'm not sure about the second part of your question.

Normally, you have to take the vehicle to the MVD in the new state. They will inspect the VIN #, you then fill out the paperwork, provide proof of insurance, surrender your old plate, pay whatever fees are involved and the new state issues you a new plate and registration. However, if you are not on the registration and your hubby's away, I don't know how you can do it. Did your husband give you power of attorney? Oh, and depending if your state requires emissions tests on motorcycles, you'll have to get that done also.

Look for a tag place; this is a group or company that will take your money (it IS for the government, after all!) and give you a temporary registration. You would then receive the more permanent one in the mail (unless they have, like in PA, a direct line to the capital, in which case they can get you permanent registrations right away).
As far as your husband in concerned - hard to say. They might need his signature. Check with the tag place and good luck!

Call the DMV or revenue office (not sure what it is called in Texas)
In most states you cannot re-tag unless you have some sort of signed, written authorization from the party whose name is on the title. That's why I say call and ask.

you are not transfering. you are canceling in CA and initiating in TX. turn in your plate to CA motor vehicle depart ment and go to the motor vehicle registration (RMV) location in TX and ask them what you need to do. These are state laws not federal, so although the laws are similar they are not universally the same. The title is typically required for registration; the bank may send it directly to the RMV office

In texas you need to go to the court house (tax office) to get that changed over.

if you have a secretary of state's office around your area, that would be the best place to go. they can help you out with anything like that. if you have any questions, then give them a call before going in.
