I think you need to rephrase the question
How do you come up with $500 to buy a car? Work... or try some sales jobs, you earn base pay + commission
where can you find a car at $500? I don't think you would want to drive something that cost $500, but you can find it almost anywhere: (PennySaver, Craigslist, cars.com, etc)
Or just approach a guy and say "Hey I'll give you $500 for that lemon" |

Steal it. More likely, get one that is barely working and repair it with your own skills. Usually a very low priced car is being sold because it needs repairs that are so costly the owner no longer wishes to pay for them. I sold a decade or so old Toyota Corola because the estimate for repairs to the steering was $900 and the car had a blue book value of just about that - spend the money and have something else wear out. The guy who bought it took my warnings and said, "Heck, I could fix that for $300 in parts" and yes he could, being a mechanic, but I would have to pay labor - I wouldn't risk my life on my skills. And I refused to sell to a woman who clearly wanted a cheap car, but couldn't fix it. |

Another thing Start looking on peoples Driveways.Many are not driving their old car or some other reason,but whatever it is, you can get a bargain..
I got for FREE a Honda Civic wagon in Incredible shape,the guy was out of work and he couldnt afford to fix it or register it.
I asked him how much ? He said just take it ,its got a bad transmission.
So I took it brought to a Guy rebuilt it with a new converter for $1500 bucks.
That was 5 years ago and the car runs great with incredible fuel economy..
I would say even if I was to sell it now, I could Get $3000 or more for it..
So they are out there, Dont give up hope,if you listen to everybody else, then you will never get the Prize...
Tell people your looking for a car for $300 bucks and see what they come up with.You will be surprised..
