How do i handle a car accident that happened months ago and I didnt file an insurance claim?

I rear ended someone on my way into school. I was hoping to keep my insurance company out of the situation, as i thought the damages would not be much over my deductible ($1000). Turns out, it is going to cost 1600 for the repairs, and i want to go through my insurance company. What are my options? (I have obtained a copy of the written estimate.)

You can still report it but chances are your payment is going to increase both for being at fault and for late reporting. If you can deal with it out of pocket it might be cheaper in the long run even though it seems like a lot right now.

well they turn it in to their company and you do same thing it would have been better to do it the day of or after it happen is right way of doing it

Try to deal it out of pocket, cause otherwise your insurance rates will go up.

If you are referring to the damage to your vehicle, your insurance company may deny your collision coverage for "late reporting". You usually only have 91 days to file a claim under your first party coverages.

If you are referring to the damage to the other person's vehicle, there should be no deductible, and you should have reported the loss to your insurance company. They would have handled the matter for you.

At this time, report the loss and let the insurance company advise you if they will provide coverage. The can deny liability coverage for "late reporting", but this does vary from state to state.

Hopefully the other person does not claim injuries some time in the future and file suit against you.

$1,600 isn't that much over a grand actually. But if you want to involve your insurance at this point, just go by, hand them the estimate and whatever other information you have and tell them you rear ended that person. They will take care of it for you, you'll pay the first $1,000.
