Class C1 entitles you to drive a vehicle up to 7,500kg (7.5 tonnes) gross weight. If you had passed your test after January 1st 1997, you would be limited to 3,500kg.
The old H.G.V. Class 1 licence (articulated lorries) is now L.G.V. Class C+E.
The old H.G.V. Class 2 licence (large rigid lorries) is now L.G.V. Class C.

As I recall, C1 covers you up to 7500kg MAM (Maximum Authorised Mass) provided you're 21 or over, though you ought to check with DVLA for certainty. |

class 1 and 2 are different levels of HGV licences for driving lorries.
i think anyone who passed their test before 1997 can drive up to 7.5 tonne and after then you have to do an extra test...I THINK!!! |

the answer to your question is
category C1 is for goods vehicles between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes as long as this entitlement is on your licence then you are licenced to drive those classes of vehicles
a class 2 driver is somebody who has passed an lgv test to drive a rigid bodied vehicle that weighs a minimum of 10 tonnes and is at least 7 metres long
a class1 driver is somebody who has passed an lgv test to drive an articulated vehicle that weighs a minimum of 18 tonnes and ios at least 12 metres in length
in the uk you must pass class 2 first before taking class 1 test

You need an operators licence to drive a 7.5t unless you are using it for personal reasons (moving house e.t.c) If you are getting paid to drive it then you will be breaking the law without the operators licence. |
