How does getting a speeding ticket affect your insurance?

I'm 19 right now and I just got my first speeding ticket. The car I drive is registered under my moms name and is under her insurance. Will she find out about the ticket and will it affect her insurance prices?
Additional Details
I live in Michigan and the ticket was written for 10 over but was really 70 in a 55

There are many variables. Laws vary from state to state, but more than likely, as long as you weren't going more than 10 mph over the posted limit, it should not go on the insurance and she probably will not find out. BUT, honesty is the best path. You need to ask yourself the following question: Will she be more upset if she finds out about it on her own? I bet she will get EXTREMELY upset if she has to find out on her own as opposed to you telling her. At least she will respect you more if you tell her, no matter what her initial reaction is.

The posting below me in wrong on several counts. First of all, I have had literally dozens of speeding tickets, all of which have been under 10 mph over, and it does not show up on my insurance. I also want to set the record straight about contesting the ticket in court. You can show up to court, and if the trooper does not show, then they have nothing to go on and they have to drop it. After all if he isnt there, he cant give his testimony. Sometimes they show, but MUCH of the time they do not. However, if they do show, you're screwed. I have friends that are local police and state troopers, and they are required to schedule the court dates for their days off. I am speaking from experience.

Yes she will find out about when her policy renews and they run all drivers motor vehicle record and yes, her premium will be affectedl

Contest what, you admit to the issue! Stand up a take responsibility for your actions and slow down before you kill yourself or someone else!

You just as well go ahead and tell your mom up front, because the insurance will go up. Anytime you get a ticket for speeding, it goes on your driving record and it will go on her insurance. All of that information of vehicle registration and driver records are interconnected. Consider yourself fortunate that the trooper wrote it for only 10 over, he was being very generous. In most states, you have to go to court and face a judge if it written for 15 or more,
and yes, he will show up if you try to contest it, and a guarantee that you will loose, because a court is not going to go against the word of the state trooper.

if you're 19 then be a man and tell your mom what happened she's going to find out anyway. Try to contest it, at this point you're already screwed, if he cop doesn't show then you win, if he shows up well what that heck you made a mistake and have to pay for it somehow right?

it will make the insurance go up because any "irresponsible" driving (such as speeding) means greater risk of accidents...
