when jay leno decides to go out and buy a car that makes as much horsepower as 2 semis put together or a custom crotchrocket with a chopper motor-or a bike with a chevy v8 on it-how does he insure these things?

i was just curious by the off chance i decide to build some street monster & i was worried maybe it would be near valueless because its not manufacturer & not warranteed-as well as having it insured for who knows how much its worth...so i assume if ur rich & u wreck ur **** ur screwed?

He may be self insured or he could have a "fleet policy" which would cover any car he owns and doesn't require notifying the insurance company before or after a car is bought or sold. |

There are companies that specialize in insuring custom and classic cars, but someone in Leno's posibion and income group (eight figures a year, from what I've read) could afford them. If you do decide to build the special car, Google "custom car insurance" and see what comes up. |

He probably has a bond posted with the state equal to the required insurance. Many people in his financial position do it that way. If you can afford the loss you don't need insurance. Why pay the insurance company a commission? Jay can afford the loss. See the link regarding posting a cash bond. |
