How does the 7 day free insurance work?

it is basically so that the dealership can register the car securley so they sign up to this insurance company. This give you time to sort your own insurance out within the seven days. I personally just collected a car and arranged for my inusurance to start from the day I collected it but you do have 7 days. Its so that they don't want to rely on your insurance delaying. They then give you a free quote for the whole year. It isn't a con don't believe this lot here!

The company from whom you buy the car will have an agreement with Norwich Union. It's a marketing technique, that's all. The only thing you need to look at is how high the EXCESS is. Generally it is alot higher than standard policies.

Well known marketing technique often used in many walks of life. If you give someone a little freebie as a "loss-leader", sufficient go on to take up a fully-paid arrangement with you to make it worthwhile.

The law states you need insurance on your car. If you don't get it the finance company will place the insurance on your car for you. That insurance, in most cases is a lot more expensive than you can buy on your own. When you buy a new car and fail to get insurance, they already have you signed and they will send you a bill. In all likely scenerios you have paid for the first seven days somewhere in the cost of your vehicle and just don't know it.

As you know, there's no such thing as a free lunch nor is there free insurance.

Ask yourself:
Who paid the premium?
What's the $$$ limits?
Who do I call if I wreck?
Who are authorized drivers?

If unknown or unsure, "Be afraid. Be very afraid."

I your coverage is as unknown or undetermined as when you first test drove the car, then what you actually have is an insurance protecting THE DEALER not you.

Run, don't walk, to your nearest insurance agent and protect yourself.
