60 days for a black R (emissions related), red R (safety related) isn't supposed to be on the road at all. You can still get pulled over for defective equipment. The re-inspection will not cost you anything. I assume the garage told you exactly what you needed to be fixed.

Im in California (which is better :) and to do that you have to talk to your local DMV and get a paper that usually denotes a number and do the process of fixing it while needing to use it. I see hoopties by my house taht have those all the time. Its hard to pass Smog emissions in California, I tell you what. haha
