Not until your full licence is received! if your 'application' for a full licence be declined (YES IT CAN BE!), you are uninsurable. Beware of a company accepting your premium, they can still suggest you were unlicensed. It should take only a few days from posting your application until your new licence arrives. |

easiest way to do it (I think) is online and as soon as your payment clears you will be covered - you will normally get an email confirming immediately.

The car insurance will start when you insurance company says so. Make sure that you are covered before you start driving. I know that you are really hot to get out on the road, but if the insurance is delayed for any reason and you have an accident before coverage begins, it may be years before you will be able to drive again.

It will usually start from the moment you take it, ask for immediate cover.
I'm not sure what this means:
"be sure to put the time as midnight for the previous day on which you want to drive."
You can not backdate an insurance policies start date/time, or every uninsured driver that had an accident would just buy backdated cover and be insured. |

Just ot get this right for you, as soon as you make a proposal to an insurance company AND THEY CONFIRM that they have accepted you, you are insured. The last bit is important, until they actually confirm acceptance you are not covered. |

Depends, it could take weeks if you don't have the money to pay for it. Sadly many new drivers get a big shock when they come home on a high from passing the test to find out that the cost of insurance is more than they earn in a month!
There are other ways to get into a car quickly if you are living with someone who already has a car and insurance. If they are willing (there are risks to them) then you can be added as a second driver at a much lower cost until you've had the time to seek out the best "rate vs protection" policy.
... and take the time!!!

As long as the insurance company will insure you , they will give you a cover note number to remember and then they'll post you the bill and details.But as soon as you get the cover note your vehicle will be covered for insurance |

when setting up your insurance be it on line or by phone you decide when it starts just be sure to put the time as midnight for the previous day on which you want to drive.
Remember stay safe out there it takes a while to adjust to driving on your own. |

when finish the call with insurance provider you be insured, you will not have the documents straight away.
If you get stopped by police just tell them who insures you and they will check and clear it that you are legal to drive.
Cover notes take a couple days to arrive, remember you need these and mot cert to tax your vehicle.
