How long would they take my licence for?

i am due to appear at court for driving without insurance, holding a provisional driving licence without displaying L plate and speaking on a mobile phone. how long are they likely to tke it for? anyone have any idea

It should be less that 56 days. That is classified as a short period disqualification and they will stamp the licence and give it back to you so you will be able to drive straight away and no fee to get a new licence. If it is over 56 days then they send the licence to DVLA and you will have to pay £60 for the return of the licence. You many only just get points, it is totally up to the court that sentences you when they give out.

the longer the better.. I'm paying an excess on my insurance just to cover me against un-insured numpties .

go court.. find out... do things legally like the rest of us..

Any kind of traffic laws will vary by state and/or country. Your previous driving record will also effect it. I'd do any kind of research on the laws you may or may not have violated. Chances are good it will be going away for at the very least a few months.

5 years would be appropriate and then you should be made to take another test before you get back. What do you want sympathy you stupid selfish B&^*^*^%^

It varies around the country and which magistrate you get.My best advice is to show genuine sorrow and to let a solicitor speak for you,but even at that,it is a gamble.Best of luck and remember,it is not the end, just inconvenient, merry Christmas.

Anything less than 6 months and I'd consider myself lucky

Why not check for yourself.Go onto the DVLA website. There is a list there of all driving related offences and penalties you can incur.Methinks this could have been a costly outing for you.Just imagine if you had an accident, you would probably have been looking at a custodial sentence.Wait till you pass your test and want to insure a car.Its gonna cost you a bomb.
