How many years no claims bonus does it take for your car insurance quote to be at its minimum?

maximum don't you mean? 5years but if differs from each company, as for the insurance....depends on how long you've been driving, how old you are, or if you have made any previous insurance claims, Audi's are very expensive cars too run so expect hefty insurance quotes...good choice of car though, if i could afford i would have one! i think its a group 14 -16, very high!, as i mentioned it all depends on the above.

The level of no claims bonus depends on the insurance company. The traditional scale (post Vehicle and General)was NIL - 30 - 40 - 50 - 60 i.e. 4 years to reach maximum, however some insurance companies decided to give a 5th year 65% and then some decided to give a 6th (671/2). The highest discount known so far is 75% HOWEVER I should point out two facts.

1) The percentage discount is irrelevant - 75% discount off Â£1000 (Â£250) is higher than a 60% discount off Â£600 (Â£240).

2) Those companies giving higher discounts have higher Base figures as a driver on maximum bonus is just as good a driver whether the bonus is 60% or 75%. This means that if you have 75% discount and have an accident e.g. go back to 55% your premium will go up MORE than if you are 60% and have an accident and your bonus goes back to 40%. If the figures are as above the premium qoes from Â£250 to Â£450 - an 80% increase in premium compared with Â£240 to Â£360 - only a 50% increase in premium.

Each company is different - on average its 5 or more but some are as little as three and some give more discount for 7 or more.
Check out car trader sites to get your cars insurance group - this is decided by taking into account factors such as security, power and acceleration, cost of replacement parts and vehicle reliability. Insurance companies have access to extensive independent tests on all vehicles - most use a company called Thatcham who rate security systems etc.
Some vehicles which are very high theft risk may have restrictions imposed on them such as being kept in a locked garage, higher minimum driver age and added security features.
