How much could my car insurance increase if I pay a 90.00 fine that included 1 point on my record?

It probably depends on your insurance company. Maybe 50 or a hundred, possibly nothing if you keep your driving record clean. Yet, you will only have to pay at renewal time. Your best bet is to fight the ticket in Courtt. Actually it is suggested that you always fight a ticket no matter the cause. Approximately 25% of the time the cop never shows up, in case he does, in many cases the judge can order you pay the fine, but he does not put it on your record (yes judges can do that) Or he can kick it all together. In Idaho for example they state on the ticket the judge can not decrease the amount of the ticket (mainly to try to keep you from fighting the ticket) but they fail to mention the Judge can keep it off your record, then the insurance company never sees the ticket. I would suggest fighting the ticket regardless, and only pay the ticket if you lose. You might even be able to plea bargain with the prosecuting attorney to to pay and have it excluded from your record, saving time in court (then the Judge does not have to hear the case) Frankly, given what insurance companies charge, your best bet is to go to cour first. The amount of time going to court is well worth it if the judge rules in your favor in any way.

It will go up just as much as it would if you don't. But if you can beat the charge in court, then you're home free.

Depends on your Insurance company and other factors like your age- if you are young, many insurance agencies see this as a 'red flag' for future driving issues especially if you are male and under 25.

your insurance might not go up in price,but you may lose your good drivers discount which is usually 5-10 percent.go to traffic school,it will be taken off your record permanently.some cities have traffic school online,its well worth it in the long run.

Go to court. Always go to court -- they can take away points / costs, but they can't add anything (except a few bucks for 'court costs'). Once there, you'll plead "guilty with explanation" probably, and then try to justify yourself.

Anyways,it can go up for one point, but I'd be surprised.

I have had enough tickets to know for you your insurance should not go up at all. you will really only get a price hike for an accident

A minor violation will follow you for 3-5yrs depending on your company. As someone above mentioned, you will probably lose part of your good driver discount so your premium may go up, but your rate hasn't changed. Many company's good driver discount is tiered so you may not lose the whole thing. For instance, in my company your 6 month premium would go up 3%. Now, if you have an accident or another violation in the next year, it would go up an extra 17%.
It can also take awhile for your insurance company to notice the violation b/c they only check your MVR 2 or 3 times a year.
