what is the average earnings a car insurance agent earn per car insured? i am looking into the possibility of becoming a car insurance agent in the very near future.

It depends really. You don't get paid per car, it's commission. Every car policy is different according to the customers needs. You have some who want the bare minimum and you have others that want all the bells and whistles so the prices vary. The amount of commission you make is determined by the company in which you sell for, each company has a different rate. Selling insurance is a lucrative business and there is a lot of money to be made. |

I earned 5% on home insurance, but nothing on auto insurance. I was on salary plus commission, plus expense allowance. If you are an independent broker, you can get up to 20% on home, usually between 5 and 10% on auto, but you have to pay your office expenses, assistants, etc out of that. If you work for an established brokerage, you work for whatever contract you negotiate with the the person who has the insurance company contracts. If you are an agent you work for one company, possibly on salary, possibly on wage/plus, possible on commision. There is no flat rule. You don't just pick up a book and start selling by the way. I took several expensive university level courses to get my different levels of licence, then had to work a certain period of time to go from observing to being observed to selling in a brokerage office to being able to sell outside the office. |

SOME TRY TO SAVE PEOPLE MONEY AND GET MORE BUSINESS BY WORD OF MOUTH.
SOME DON'T CARE AND CHARGE THE MAX ALOUD THE THEIR STATE. |

They get 10% of whatever the insured total premium is...they also charge their own commission fee (which may vary.....different agents charge different base commission fee). |

No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web.
Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
