i was wondering how much it would cost for getting a course for learning how to drive, taking the test, getting my permit, and getting my license.
i will be 15 1/2 in May of this year, so i sort of want to know how much i should save for myself.
PS: that law banning the license until 18 yrs old did not pass. i just read the 2009 California DMV handbook at dmv.org and they said i can get my permit at 15 1/2
so, yeah thanks in advance, and only answer if you know the answer

That rumor going around in the US that you couldn't get your permit if you were born after 1992 until you are 18 was just that- a rumor.
I have not heard of any state attempting any legislation to change their teen driving laws in any of the 48 states. I don't know how many teens personally emailed me & how many questions I answered here regarding that stupid rumor over the past few months. I even emailed other Police Officers in WI, CA & other states to try to find out where it originated & they didn't even know, but they also were getting tired of it.
Back to your question- does your high school offer Driver's Ed? If so & you can get enrolled in it- the cost should be very little or none if this is a public high school. Other than that, go through the Yellow Pages & ask your DE teacher or school counselor for referrals if you don't want to take it if offered in school.

Click on I Agree & then Access the system
In the drop down- select Driving School
Then type your city where it states Enter a City Name
Click Get License Information
If the list is long, it may take a few seconds for the page to load- but it will list the schools & whether or not they have a valid license- something the Yellow Pages won't tell you. |

I think you could go to Yellow pages and look for "driving school" call as many as are listed and explain what you want - and I'm sure they'll be glad to give you that information - I'm guessing at least $300 to 500!
But I could be wrong. |
