The fees for the number plates run between $10.00 and $50.00 per year in most states.

Some states assess a personal property tax each year. That's typically based on the value of the car but some base it on weight or engine size. Those are all over the chart - from nil to several hundred a year. Some states roll this into the number plate fee and others assess it separately.

Additionally, most states will charge sales and use taxes (similar to VAT) when you first put it on the road -- my new $22,000 Ford Fusion set me back over $1,200.00 for that. Rates for states that assess this tax range from 2% to 8% of the net purchase price.

The best way is to check the DMV website for the state where you will be settling. Just google the name of the state + DMV + fees and the appropriate site should be near the top of the hits.

Depends on the state, and in some states it depends on the value of the vehicle, or type of car/truck/SUV. Each state also has different laws, on how much insurance you have to carry which will affect the cost.

Depending on sales price it varys between 5.25 through 8.75% in most states and counties add onto it a registration between 45.00 to 125.00 and the state inspection if required by local law that is between 8.50 to 45.00 depending on the state. Add onto the costs at minimum liability insurance! gets expensive huh? This is all annualy except the sales tax!
