if it costs more than the value of the car then it's totalled...or if repairing the car does not make it safe to drive it will total it. there are many factors involved in this...if the suspension is damaged beyond repair it will be totaled. or you can just declare that you don't want it fixed because of the amount of damage then you can have them total it. It does help if the damage was caused by another person at fault...if that's the case...just say you won't accept the car you want it replaced.

Each state sets it's own rules about this. Some states will allow cost to repair up to 99% of the vehicle's value, others as low as 70%. Once the state threshold has been reached or exceeded then usually the state requires the vehcile be declared a 'total loss'.

all depends on the car and the insurance company some do it at 80% others go to the full value of the car before tey make it a total loss ask your insurance company what they do

if its 80 % of the value of the vehicle they will usually total it out,they figure it like this by the time its repaired its not going to ever be worth its original value if it hadnt been wrecked ,so most of the time they just total them out,good luck with it.
