It all depends on your location. The state, city, and driving record all play a major roll. If you're in NJ, just forget about it and take the bus. NJ has the highest car insurance rate in the country. Go to esurance.com and they will get you the lowest rate available of all the insurance companies. I know your parents probably don't want you on theirs, but that is probably the cheapest way. Anyway, Good Luck.

Car insurance is expensive for anyone under the age of 25, but more expensive for males. Even though it has been proven that women have had more accidents then males.
I would definately call around, usually you can get the state minimum for a good deal, but beware of those companies that only offer insurance for 6 months. When they say, yeah it'll be 638 bucks for insurance, make sure thats for a year, not half a year, because it'll be more expensive in the long run.

I doubt you can get coverage at all by yourself.

it shouldn't be that much, especially if you only get liability. If you decide to get full coverage it will be slightly higher and some insurance companies won't do it. If it has modifications or pricey work done to it, than that will increase the premium price also. But if shouldn't be more then 300 for six months if you only get liability.

Since I don't have a driving teen. I would have to guess based on my own costs at that age and it was $1800.00 a year before I had my first accident then it stayed at around $2500.00 yearly until I was 25.

If the registered owner is the 17 year old male, you better get your wallet out. It's going to cost a staggering amount.

My son is 16, and he drives my old van. It has only the minimum amount of liability insurance - nothing whatsoever to replace the vehicle. My driving record is very good, and I've had only a couple of claims in the last 10 years - both for less than $1000. I'm paying about $700 a year to insure the van, and that's almost what my 8 month old truck costs to insure, and it has VERY good coverage. Both vehicles are titled in my name. If the van was in his name, I bet the insurance would double.

With a clean record my brothers ran around $100-$150 a month. He has a 79' Lincoln.(Boat) But it all depends. If you add an older sibling or a parent with a good driving record as an included driver, your premium will be cheaper, most of the time.

actually pretty cheap. i have an 87 monte carlo ss and being 21 my insurance is alot cheaper than when i had my 01 camaro ss. depending on your driving history it should be pretty cheap, plus the car is considered "classic" since its over 20 years old.

Depends on other details, such as address, coverage amts (liab, comp, coll), record, if you've been on anyone else's policy. Call a licensed Independent Agent and get a quote. Like Travelocity or Priceline or Expedia, the more carriers an agent has, the better price they can get. GEICO is one of several captive agents -- they can only price you at one company, theirs.
