Insurance costs don't just rely on make of car and age of driver. Where you live, where the car will be kept, whether it is for personal and business use, how many miles you are aiming to do etc are all taken into consideration by most companies. Try confused.com for a quote. If you don't have the car yet, note down the registration number of the car you are intending to buy and use that for the details. (Don't worry if you change your mind about buying the car, it will just gice a quote for the age of that vehicle). Confused.com will search a large number of insurance companies and give the best quotes. If nothing else, it will give you an idea of what you might have to pay. |

Don't get a punto - they're rubbish!
A friend brought one round the other day, the sump was rusty and oil was leaking out through the metal! That was a T reg one, btw.
If you're after a cheap car, get a Mk1 306 diesel. They're only gp 4 insurance, cheap for parts and do 55 mpg. |

I recently became a new driver, also aged 20 and I bought a mk2 punto (2001).
My insurance costs me £760 for this year, fully comp and it was the best quote I could find, I searched many companies and ended up with churchill. |

What the heck's a punto? Either way, you should go to an independent agent in your area as they can check-out rates from many different companies for you to give you the best rate. |
