For a car on public roads, which includes most car parks, you have to be 17 years old unless you're in receipt of full Motabilty allowance, in which case it's 16 years old. |

The law says 17 although I think you can apply for a provisional licence because I did that but you are not permitted to drive until you're 17. |

Do you know how many times this question is asked? For all of you that answered 17 years old, you are wrong....
You can take lessons, sit a test and drive on roads once you pass at 16 years old......but only if you have the full disability living allowance. If you don't hold DLA then it is 17years old.... |

In order to drive a car you must be no younger than seventeen. You can apply for your provisional drivers licence on or shortly before your seventeenth birthday. If you receive your provisional licence before your seventeenth birthday you will still not be eligible by law to begin driving until after the date of that birthday. |

if you have at hand a patient driver, a large empty car park, and some time, you should be able to get in a bit of practice before you turn 17, when you can actually take a courseand get your provisional. If you have access to cones, tape, etc., lay out a course. Get together with some friends if possible. |

17. Ignore the '16 answer'. Looks like he doesn't live in the UK. |
