You usually have to be 21 in the UK. That is because you have to have a special kind of insurance called m'hire and reward' which usually stipulates that you are over 21 and have a clean lisence.

It depends on your local council, they are the one who issue the taxi licence they set the criteria. Insurance is the big problem for younger drivers as it is very expensive!

25 is the min age no one will insure you till then and most councils wont issue with a private hire/hackney licence till your 25 anyway
