Driving license suspended in year 1997 because speeding ticket was not paid

For those who wonders why the 10yrs period.: I was out of the country for that 10 yrs and now i'm back. I had and Illinois driving license. The speeding tickect i got in Indiana. And now I'm in Az. Tried to get my license and they ask me to get back to DMV in Ill. Tried that but i've been directed form one person to another. Now, I'm clueless.

in many states, there is a paper you need to file, a fee you need to pay, and a waiting period to wait. You can probably get a "temporary restricted license" or something of the sort for the duration of your suspension which will allow you to drive to/from work/school. Ask the DMV or DOT. |

Pay the ticket then maybe they will give you your license back,don't pay it and it will go from Suspension to not! having one at all so (Bite the Bullet) and pay it..in other word's swallow the pride and get it done,then you will be back on Wheel Street...

that really depends on the state.
NY delete all records of licenses expired 5 years or more. That means, if your license, suspended or not, has been more that 5 years expired, there will be no record of you. This is only in New York, and you would have to start from the very beginning again (learners permit, etc) |

Did you pay the ticket yet? That might be a good start. Then, call your local DMV and ask them how long you will have to wait to get your drivers lisence back after you pay the ticket. It may be that all you have to do is pay and poof! you have your drivers liscense back. You might have to wait. It depends on the rules.
But I am curious...why are you wondering this now??? It's 2006 and you got the ticket in 1997?? Why have you waited almost 10 years to take care of it?? |

I do not know what State you reside in. However, here, you need to go to your local courthouse and pay your fine/ticket
(including any late fees/interest)and obtain a receipt. Then take that receipt to your local DMV and pay the license reinstatement fine. Of course, you can always call the number on the ticket for info where best to pay it.

cory is right... pay the ticket... you'll probably have to pay reinstatement fee's also. not to be an idiot or anything. but why would you let a ticket run around for almost ten years without paying? |

first you have to pay the ticket then you have to go to the drivers lisences office and pay a $50 reinstating fee and then $7 more for a new lisences. |

Where is it written that NY delets its records after 5 yrs? I want to know this because I live in another state, got a ticket from a stupid cop, who just wanted to give the ticket, seriously, i had all the papers. So his buddy apologised, but while this happened, I got 2 tickets, bogus, ones. i did not think that this could be done.? So the nice cop said forget it and mail it in, you'll be ok. So i have been doing this now for five years in the summer. And my stae will not give me a temp lic, of give me it back until this is settled. I am having enormous, problems! I finally decided to pay the one ticket ( he should havw writen only one anyway) But they sent the money back to me and scheduled a hearing on only one. The judge finally dismissed the ticket after several postponments, not by me, and the cop showed up and the judge was like this is not valid why was this even written, but would not do the other ticket. Each and every time the appeals want new evidence, orig docs, yet I have sent them return, recpt, and this is over 5 yrs now? Now one will fix this, not any lawyer, not any judge. And yet the appeal says I never even showed in court and sent docs? But i mailed all this proof yet they deny it. Well send it again. this is unconstitutional isn't it? No speedy trial here. they even sent a paper on one ticket restoring my lic, but then denied they ever did. then when i sent it they said it was a mistake to have sent it? I was never wrong, and paying it was 9 pts per ticket. i have never had any tickets period!. What do i do wait until the summer when they issued it 5 yrs to the day? |
